About Me

My name is Jessica.

I am a full-time sophomore college student.

Nature and everything in it keeps me sane and is a constant reminder that everything and anything can grow. Although this love for nature have always been in me, it wasn't until recently that I have had the urge to start my own backyard garden. I think what sparked my motivation to start my own garden was my refrigerator. The defroster is still not working that well so my veggies and fruits are always frosting up. And I am tired of going to the market just to get some stems of cilantro. Also, knowing that I grew my own food gives me the comfort that I do not have to rely too much on others for my food. Plus the pesticides that are absorbed into your fruits and vegetables, just does not seem that appealing to me. I will start to have my own "true" organic fruits and vegetables by the seasons. Remember, even though the market tells you that the fruit/vegetable is organic, it does not mean there was no pesticide used but just less pesticide than your usual "non-organic" fruits and vegetables.

I have always had an interest of growing my own things, but I honestly know nothing more than dirt, water, seeds, containers, and light. So, join me in a journey of making your own garden. I am just learning, but I will share with you everything I learn to have my own garden in my apartment's backyard. Also how great would it be if you could grow your own things and help feed others? I will try to grow things in larger amounts so I could donate my fresh produce to people in need as well. I hope you all could try it too!

Just to let you all know. I will try to use as many reusable household items, things you should already have in your disposal, and be as cheap as possible.

Best,
JayLuu
